Izzet Zorlu in Year 2007 and 2008
2007 and 2008 pasted so quickly. that's probably because i spent 1 whole year in military service. doh! i learnt how to ski and play golf (two less things i need to do before i die). i feel like i have now settled permanently in north cyprus. it has good and bad sides, but i guess there is one big good side which will always overrule the bad ones. that is sifa and we got engaged. we will begin to build our home in 2009 and will get married in 2010. GNC is going very well and we have taken steps to increase our revenue in the following years. oh and i had a varicocele operation...
squash

berkan and i started playing squash (voted the healthiest sport by Forbes) at hilton cyprus, 2 times a week. it takes us 40 mins to drive and 40 mins to come back to kyrenia. i really wish we had a court in lefkosa or kyrenia!
i hope to take some videos of berkan and i playing. we sometimes have great plays!
meanwhile, musti and cousin emek surrendered to military service on 15th december.

i went to ankara to my fiancee for a few days..
i was on a seasonal shopping spree :)
3 jeans, 2 trousers, 7 shirts, 5 sweatshirts, 3 shoes, etc.
is that enough to be called to be on spree?
we also went to ankaraspor - galatasaray football game with sifa's friends. 20 second movie clip (3.3 mb)
oguz bought us dinner at tavaci recep usta on my last day.

you don't feel anything when there is an electricity cut.. it's all automatic!

Thanks to Berkan, we each bought £10,000 worth of DOHOL shares at 1.04 YTL on 17th October.
We converted £10,000 at 2.57 rate for 25,700 YTL.
Last Thursday, we sold the shares at 1.20 YTL and bought Pounds back at 2.42 today! ;)
We made a sweet £2,100 profit - our first big stock exchange "gamble". |

we went to istanbul for the weekend. the uneducated passport control officer at ercan airport did not accept our "online check-in" paper from thy.com.tr and we had to go through the normal check-in process. it was so stupid!
we went to "umutlar ocakbasi" on istiklal ave for cop shish, "kale cafe" in rumelihisar for breakfast, "bebek balikcisi" expensive but very delicious fish restaurant, and "kasibeyaz" near the airport for the best kebab.
the match atmosphere was super and the first goal by arda can be the goal of the year!

varicocele operation

i had a varicocele operation last week at etik hastanesi.
i can walk now and within 2 weeks time, i'll be fully recovered.
we will see after 3 months if the surgery was succesful or not...

karpaz trip

during the kemer trip with musti, kemal and ahmet dervis, we promised to go for karpas trip but musti and kemal gave up... they did miss a lot of fun! :)
we stayed at Sea Bird Bungalows just after passing Apostolos Andreas Monastery, 5 mins away from Zafer Cape in Karpas peninsula. the bungalows are right next to the sea. there is also a nice sandy beach where we spent hours playing wababo ball and skin diving.

on the way to karpas tip, we tried a different route and got lost. it took us 1.5 hours to find the mainroad again. ahmet and i took a sip of an efes beer near the ruins. this donkey struck ahmet's eye :)

it's saturday again. after 5 days of military service, now i got 2 days to work hard!
we launched our new website on kyrenia hotels - nice design, up-to-date info and good hotel pics.
today, i worked 14 hours straight, sent 62 emails, added 4 hotels to the booking system, compared hotel only rates with competitors, sent monthly reports for my car hire websites, assigned the march 2008 job list to our writer, did an email campaign for gnc, paid invoices standing for a few weeks now, did some internal accounting, etc. |

i bought maxtor one touch III 1 TB external hard drive from hepsiburada.com, coz my 300gb was no more enough!
i am also using it at raid 1 mode, so my data is safe even if one drive fails. good stuff! :)
and my whiteboard space was not enough.. so i bought another whiteboard :P
my father brought his drill and together we managed to hang it right next to the previous board.
my mum and sifa has been complaining a lot.. "is this your home or office" – well, it's both! |

we drove to arapkoy and took a left turn into the forest (opposite to the turn to the buffavento castle). we drove till alevkaya and visited sourpmagar monastery on the way. we then drove down to esentepe and back home to catch fenerbahce-galatasaray fortis turkish cup match (which ended 0-0 btw). it was an interesting journay. we took lots of photos. after smelling kebabs in alevkaya picnic area, we couldn't stop ourselves from ordering seftali kebab from niazis... mountains & sea | stuck | tarmac | viewing dock |

we went to galabalik seafood restaurant with mom, dad, aysem and our cousin gokhan. mom & dad
ahmet dervis and burukan came for a short holiday and we had fun. burukan helped me with some 44 stuff. musti is complicated :D
military is getting boringgg.. kemal says "sheeps, goats and three dogs" and snakes! i miss sifa. my phone is broke.. the old mighty front speaker. power cuts started again. no time left for work after 5pm so it sucks! |

i had a small car accident when a van hit me!

the second day i m back on the island.. ugh!!
i chose military canteen next to my house. time is passing quickly. i don't get to be a duty officer at all! shhhtt! ;)
my new phone, htc touch is superb!!! it's so sleek, thin, light and comes with wm6 and touchflo. visit offical website. i felt in love with my i-mate jam when i bought in 2005 but this new thing is uncomparable! it's amazing how things improve so quickly. good camera: mom

went to sifa for a few days and got sick from food poisoning because of penne at peppermill. had to visit the hospital! ughh! sifa looked after me very well though :) balloon
found tickets to the gs-fb match 4 hours before the start. booked atlas jet flight tickets to istanbul on phone, packed up a a few things in a min, picked up berkan on the way to airport. 3 hours left. 1 hour flight. 2 hours left. istanbul traffic... but managed to catch the game.. even 15 mins early :P we were in vip section and everyone was wearing business and we were in tshirts! it's fun! :) ali sami yen
signed up for the military service. need to pass exams to be a second-lieutenant. starts in august for 1 year :( |

i think the month april is the most boring month of the year. it was true in 2006 too :P
one funny thing happened though. musti, kemal and i went to diana beach in karakum with my car around 12am with a few beers, but the car engine did not start afterwards. coz it was late, we decided to walk back home. it was adventurous. we talked 5.5 km back home in exactly one hour.
my golf is improving. i can hit with irons just fine but my driver sucks! ughh! it's driving me crazy.
we hired an employee for gnc and she is good. i m planning to give her full control in the next couple of weeks so my workload will ease a lot - hopefully!
the weather is getting warmer.. yeyyy!
i plan to do my military service this august. ick!

i went to istanbul with berkan and elif for a few days. we went to cem yilmaz show which was hilarious as expected. i think the best part was when berkan broke into laughter during a military joke about buying a tank thru promotion, "kampanya ile tank almak".
berkan and i went to fenerbahce-sivas football game. the score was good 2-2! hehe :D

what a bad start to 2007

i had a car accident last saturday - nobody got injured, calm down! i was driving within speed limits on the main road, when a woman-driver suddenly popped in front of me coming from a ONE-WAY road. she had 120 level of alcohol and i had 62 level of alcohol where the allowed limit is 50. so my insurance did not cover and i will pay some 5000 euros and wait for 2-3 weeks for the repair.
what else?
my phone battery is dying and everyday my line drops during the calls. the replacement battery i got yesterday is broke! due to power cuts in kyrenia in the last 2 weeks, the power cable of my digital frame is not working. i went to tektan and alemdar and they could not find a replacement - how f*ing hard is it to make a 5V-2.5A power cable? my car hire company website for south cyprus had very bad drops in search engine rankings, from no.3 to no.8. i have redesigned the whole site, added some good content and i am employing good link building practices - we'll see!
meanwhile, i went to istanbul and play regular soccer in real world and on xbox with berkan. |
