2004: A Remarkable Year
Well, it's really hard to describe the whole year in a few sentences.. 2004 has been a very remarkable year. The first half was amazing but also emotionally painful when I fell in love... The worst thing in life is being ditched by somebody who you count on the most. I believe this is true in everything - love, business... Summer was challenging with full-time work. I became a certified diver and I think I'll dive as long as I am physically capable. The fall was different from other semesters.. in a very good way. 2004 was the year of unexpected things happening. I even had my gall bladder removed. Anyway, I hope 2005 will be more predictable and less fancy...

zappos.com
12.09.2004
zappos.com is an online shoe store and they are an amazing company! i'll tell u why. i bought boots last week. they shipped the next day with ups next day delivery. i got my boots almost within 48 hours. btw, it's free shipment. they hurt my feet, so i decided to return them. free returns! i just printed out the ups label. i bought these new snow-proof boots and they arrived within 2 days. great boots!
|
i submitted feedback about the old pair i got. one of their representatives called the next day and said that they were sorry about what happened and offered me $30 off from my next order. how cool is that! anyway, i ended up buying this mad comfortable stylish sandals for only $9.90.
zappos.com's business philosophy is 100% customer satisfaction. they know that when i m satisfied, i'll be recommending them to my friends. they offer free 1-business-day shipment and free hassle-free returns and you get to stay indoors in this cold weather. |

honors proposal
12.02.2004
another great presentation today. i love public speaking.. we, the committee on development and trade, proposed the implementation of product-specific rather than broad-matching, country-specific negotiations for the incremental reduction of tariffs on manufactured goods and subsidies on agricultural goods by developing countries and developed countries, respectively. i'll see if i'll have any idea about this a few years from now. lol |

i like this part of the year...
11.19.2004
it's time of the year when all school stuff is over till the finals.. and what i mean by school stuff is tests and homeworks... i am deciding on the courses i'll be taking in my last semester here in stony brook university. i just need to take two cs electives and a stupid american histroy (it's fulbright scholarship req.) in order to graduate. i wanna be a ta for some entry level cse course. i m sure it'll be a lot of fun. i also applied for being a computer consultant in the sinc sites.
it's also the time to decide what to do for the winter break.
boston? florida? nyc? mexico? montreal?
i think i like this part of the year.. it's about planing your ideal future. hehe... |
hotmail hacked?
11.17.2004
i got this weird screen when i logged in to hotmail today:
"My name is Maximus Decimus Meridus, Commander of the Armies of the North, General of the Felix Legions, loyal servant to the true emperor, Marcus Aurelius. Father to a murdered wife. And I will have my vengeance, lBurger?..."
let's wait and see what microsoft has to say about this. |

the Met
10.31.2004
well, i've been here for more than 3 years now and.. i never been to the Met - The Metropolitan Museum of Art. a friend was going today coz of her class paper.. i said 'what the hell, i'll go too..'
first few hours was okey.. but the rest was boring as hell and i was so tired. we all went to Bereket Kebab House on Houston street afterwards and ate doner kebab. that made whole trip worthy i guess. |
indoor soccer
10.25.2004
we sucked soo bad in the soccer intramurals. we lost all 6 games and had seen more than 20 goals in our castle (translate to turkish.. lol - ahmet said!) and scored only 1 goal.. guess what? that was a penalty. "yeahhh john!"
with all that said, we had some mad fun in the field. ..and yeah, a team called "bunch of cypriots" kicked our a$$. damn all cypriots! :P |

texas hold'em night
10.14.2004
i had no idea how to play poker before this semester. well, it is one of the most fun games i ever played.. it involves taking risks and u gotta know how to control your desires and know when to fold..
anyway, i met 8 new poker players today. i went all-in against some girl whom i thought didn't know how to play. she totally bluffed me.. soo badly. i had three of a kind.. she had a flush.. end of the night! |
xda II
09.22.2004
yeyyy for xda II.
it's not just another pocket pc device. it's a phone.
it has a built-in camera that takes pretty good shots.
if you can't do it without a pocket pc device and you are sick of carrying your phone with you, xda II is your ultimate solution.
btw, it's not available in states yet, I bought on eBay ;) |
